UPS & Sochi 2014

Distinct lack of contact details on the sochi website

International Olympic Committee

Having strangely ducked out of my previous questions, by a game of ping-pong between the IOC & LOCOG, will the I.O.C. take the UPS millions for the next Olympic Games?

I'm fairly sure that the I.O.C. will take their slice of the fraudulently obtained dosh.

I don't see anything to suggest that some coffers might not be lined.

Updated IOC Update

Dear Mr. Whitehead,

For the next Olympic Games, as for London 2012, the IOC will manage the relationship with the Worldwide Partners and the relationship with the local Partners will be managed by the local committee, the Sochi 2014 Organizing Committee of the XXII Olympic Winter Games and XI Paralympic Winter Games. At this time UPS has not signed as a local Partner for any future Olympic Games.

Best regards,
Peter

Didn't exactly answer my questions, but what would you expect?

Can't be anything to do with the UPS millions, can it?

Dear Peter

Somewhat disappointing that it has taken over 3 months for you to say, not my problem.

Even more so that it was LOCOG that passed me on to you.

Who will be dealing with sponsorship for the next Olympics?

Surely there will be some imput from the IOC

Dear Mr. Whitehead,

UPS is not a sponsor of the IOC, it is a sponsor of LOCOG and of the London 2012 Olympic Games.

We therefore recommend you address any correspondence to the London Organising Committee of the Olympic Games and Paralympic Games Ltd. directly.

Best regards,
Peter

News from Trucker-net.com

24th September 2012
Still no action by VOSA dispite many people reporting 1000s of tachograph and drivers hours infringments to them, especialy by UPS drivers. It is hard to believe that UPS actualy has VOSA in its pocket. Maybe Scot Davis has had a word and UPS are alowed to work to American legislation.
UPS preaches ITEGRITY but they have no idea as to the meaning of the word.

What was that Lou Holtz was saying?

A bird doesn't sing because it has an answer, it sings because it has a song.

Maybe Dave & I should do a duet. (I've been in G & S's Yeoman of the Guard)

I can add Unite, LOGOG, IOC, HSE & CIPD to those unwilling to listen to the wrong-doings of UPS. The question is why? Maybe Dave is giving us the answer. The mighty shekel.

I'm going to add that they'd be so embarrassed to be associated with UPS and it's lack of integrity, that they must keep quiet.

Unite should be looking after its members.
LOCOG should be insisting on Olympic values, as should the IOC.
HSE should be looking after the health and safety of UPS employees.
CIPD should be investigating the lack of professionalism among the HR dept.
VOSA should be ensuring the safety of UPS vehicles on the road, and therefore the general public.

All turn a blind eye to UPS.

The Olympic section reminded me of this

Wife - Who's that?

Me - Kenneth Brannagh

Wife - Who's he?

Me - Wallander, we watched it the other night

Wife - No it isn't, he's got different coloured hair

Of course, she was right. It can't have been Kenneth Brannagh.
So I rang him up, he denied he was Wallander or Isambard Kingdom Brunel.

Just proves how wrong I can be

What was it? Compulsive Liar

The Olympic special, even without the pictures always makes me smile when the Queen & Bond sequence comes on. Did somebody say she doesn't have a sense of humour?

Mikey threatens Cindy

Cindy just an update for you on where we are at.
I will be questioning your intelligence again, of course.
A question for you.
When is a threat, not a threat?
When it isn't a threat.
No doubt your 3 stooges/cronies will deny that you said I was questioning your intelligence. No notes therefore it didn't happen. Let me just remind you that the 4, yes 4, of you tried to bully me into believing that I was wrong. You also bullied me by not allowing me the right to reply to your incorrect statement.

Bully - To treat in an overbearing or intimidating manner. Despite Walter Mitty's denial. 4 onto 1 is intimidating.

Threat - A statement of an intention to inflict pain, injury, damage, or other hostile action on someone in retribution for something done or not...: "the family has received death threats"

Intention - A course of action that one intends to follow. i.e. hasn't already happened

As I tried to expain to you in the meeting. As I had already made contact with VOSA, it cannot be a threat, that I was going to contact them.

So let me give you an update as to where my threats are so far. See, I'm as stupid as you are. I'm calling them threats as well. Just to re-itterate, I have already contacted all these organisations.

VOSA - You are in 'luck', they don't seem interested
HSE - You are in 'luck' again, they don't seem interested.
CIPD - You are in 'luck' they've lost my paperwork, and now Roger Mays and Emma O'Toole have mysteriously disappeared from the CIPD books
Unite-The Union - Strangely you are in 'luck' again. They lost my membership. My, you are lucky aren't you.
LOCOG/IOC - Currently investigating
Teamsters - Currently investigating
Watchdog - Currently investigating
Moneybox - Currently investigating

Quite a lot of luck that you are having. I wonder how much that luck has cost you so far.
No doubt that it is all co-incidence, just like the decision that was made about retribution.

I thought that I'd keep you up to date, just so that you know who might need to 'lose' some paperwork. Just to ensure that you stay 'lucky'

IOC Ethics commission

  • What does the IOC Ethics Commission do?

  • Its mission is to ensure respect of the ethical principles within the Olympic Movement, as defined in the Olympic Charter. To this end, the Ethics Commission determines the applicable rules and, in the event of a breach of these, can make a recommendation to the IOC Executive Board.

Who can be concerned by the Ethics Commission's recommendations?

The Ethics Commission can make recommendations concerning the people or organisations required to respect the Olympic Charter and the IOC Code of Ethics: IOC members, the Organising Committees for the Olympic Games (OCOGs), the National Olympic Committees (NOCs), cities bidding to host the Olympic Games and, during the Olympic Games, all those taking part in the Games.

Who can refer cases to the Ethics Commission?

Everyone concerned by a breach of the ethical principles set out in the Code of Ethics, provided that the complaint is against one of the bodies required to respect the Code of Ethics - the IOC members, the Organising Committees for the Olympic Games (OCOGs), the National Olympic Committees (NOCs), the Olympic Games Candidate Cities and Olympic Games participants. This complaint will be forwarded to the President of the International Olympic Committee for analysis and referral of the case with a view to a recommendation if the situation makes it necessary.
    IOC Code of Ethics

    Preamble
The International Olympic Committee and each of its members, the cities wishing to organise the Olympic Games, the Organising Committees of the Olympic Games and the National Olympic Committees (hereinafter “the Olympic parties”) restate their commitment to the Olympic Charter and in particular its Fundamental Principles. The Olympic parties affirm their loyalty to the Olympic ideal inspired by Pierre de Coubertin.
Consequently, at all times the Olympic parties and, in the framework of the Olympic Games, the participants, undertake to respect and ensure respect of the present Code and the following principles:
    A
    Dignity
    1.
Safeguarding the dignity of the individual is a fundamental requirement of Olympism.
    2.
There shall be no discrimination between the participants on the basis of race, gender, ethnic origin, religion, philosophical or political opinion, marital status or other grounds.
    3.
All doping practices at all levels are strictly prohibited. The provisions against doping in the World Anti-Doping Code shall be scrupulously observed.
    4.
All forms of harassment of participants, be it physical, professional or sexual, and any physical or mental injuries to participants, are prohibited.
    5.
All forms of participation in, or support for betting related to the Olympic Games, and all forms of promotion of betting related to the Olympic Games are prohibited.
    6.
Also, in the context of betting, participants in the Olympic Games must not, by any manner whatsoever, infringe the principle of fair play, show non-sporting conduct, or attempt to influence the result of a competition in a manner contrary to sporting ethics.
    7.
The Olympic parties shall guarantee the athletes conditions of safety, well-being and medical care favourable to their physical and mental equilibrium.
    B
    Integrity
    1.
The Olympic parties or their representatives shall not, directly or indirectly, solicit, accept or offer any form of remuneration or commission, nor any concealed benefit or service of any nature, connected with the organisation of the Olympic Games.
    2.
Only gifts of nominal value, in accordance with prevailing local customs, may be given or accepted by the Olympic parties, as a mark of respect or friendship. Any other gift must be passed on to the organisation of which the beneficiary is a member.
    3.
The hospitality shown to the members and staff of the Olympic parties, and the persons accompanying them, shall not exceed the standards prevailing in the host country.
    4.
The Olympic Parties shall respect the Rules Concerning Conflicts of Interests Affecting the Behaviour of Olympic Parties.
    5.
The Olympic parties shall use due care and diligence in fulfilling their mission. They must not act in a manner likely to tarnish the reputation of the Olympic Movement.
    6.
The Olympic parties, their agents or their representatives must not be involved with firms or persons whose activity or reputation is inconsistent with the principles set out in the Olympic Charter and the present Code.
    7.
The Olympic parties shall neither give nor accept instructions to vote or intervene in a given
manner within the organs of the IOC.
    C
    Resources
    1.
The Olympic resources of the Olympic parties may be used only for Olympic purposes.
    2.
2.1 The income and expenditure of the Olympic parties shall be recorded in their accounts, which must be maintained in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles. An independent auditor will check these accounts.
2.2 In cases where the IOC gives financial support to Olympic parties:
    a) the use of these Olympic resources for Olympic purposes must be clearly demonstrated in the accounts;
    b) the accounts of the Olympic parties may be subjected to auditing by an expert designated by the IOC Executive Board.
    3.
The Olympic parties recognise the significant contribution that broadcasters, sponsors, partners and other supporters of sports events make to the development and prestige of the Olympic Games throughout the world. However, such support must be in a form consistent with the rules of sport and the principles defined in the Olympic Charter and the present Code. They must not interfere in the running of sports institutions. The organisation and staging of sports competitions are the exclusive responsibility of the independent
sports organisations recognised by the IOC.
    D
    Candidatures
The Olympic parties shall in all points respect the various manuals published by the IOC linked to the selection of host cities of the Olympic Games, in particular the Rules of Conduct Applicable to All Cities Wishing to Organise the Olympic Games. The cities wishing to organise the Olympic Games shall, inter alia, refrain from approaching another party, or a third authority, with a view to obtaining any financial or political support inconsistent with the provisions of such manuals and the Rules of Conduct.
    E
    Relations with States
    1.
The Olympic parties shall work to maintain harmonious relations with state authorities, in accordance with the principle of universality and political neutrality of the Olympic Movement.
    2.
The Olympic parties are free to play a role in the public life of the states to which they belong. They may not, however, engage in any activity or follow any ideology inconsistent with the principles and rules defined in the Olympic Charter and set out in the present Code.
    3.
The Olympic parties shall endeavour to protect the environment on the occasion of any events they organise. In the context of the Olympic Games, they undertake to uphold generally accepted standards for environmental protection.
    F
    Confidentiality
The Olympic parties shall not disclose information entrusted to them in confidence. The principle of confidentiality shall be strictly respected by the IOC Ethics Commission in all its activities. Disclosure of other information shall not be for personal gain or benefit, nor be undertaken maliciously to damage the reputation of any person or organisation.
    G
    Implementation
    1.
The Olympic parties shall see to it that the principles and rules of the Olympic Charter and the present Code are applied.
    2.
The Olympic parties shall inform the IOC President of any breach of the present Code, with a view to possible referral to the IOC Ethics Commission.
    3.
The IOC Ethics Commission may set out the provisions for the implementation of the present Code in a set of Implementing Provisions.

    UPS v Olympics (Standards)

    FUNDAMENTAL PRINCIPLES OF OLYMPISM

Modern Olympism was conceived by Pierre de Coubertin, on whose initiative the International Athletic Congress of Paris was held in June 1894. The International Olympic Committee (IOC) constituted itself on 23 June 1894.

The Olympic Charter is the codification of the Fundamental Principles, Rules and Bye-laws adopted by the IOC. It governs the organisation and operation of the Olympic Movement and stipulates the conditions for the celebration of the Olympic Games. The following are Fundamental Principles of the Olympic Movement, as stated in the Olympic Charter:
    • Olympism is a philosophy of life, exalting and combining in a balanced whole the qualities of body, will and mind.
    • Blending sport with culture and education, Olympism seeks to create a way of life ba sed on the joy found in effort, the educational value of good example and respect for universal fundamental ethical principles.
    • The goal of Olympism is to place everywhere sport at the service of the harmonious development of man, with a view to encouraging the establishment of a peaceful society concerned with the preservation of human dignity.
    • The Olympic Movement is the concerted, organised, universal permanent action, carried out under the supreme l authority of the IOC, or all individuals and entities who are inspired by the values of Olympism. It covers the five l continents. It reaches its peak with the bringing together of the world’s athletes at the great sport festival, the l Olympic Games. Its symbol is five interlaced rings.
    • The practise of sport is a human right. Every individ ual must have the possibility of practising sport, without discrimination of any kind and in the Olympic spirit, which requires mutual understanding with a spirit of friendship, solidarity and fair play. The organisation, administration and management of sport must be controlled by independent sports organisations.
    • Any form of discrimination with regard to a country or person on grounds of race , religion, politics, gender or otherwise in incompatible with belonging to the Olympic Movement.
    • Belonging to the Olympic Movement requires compliance with the Olympic Charter and recognition by the IOC.
    Introduction to the Olympic Charter

The Olympic Charter (OC) is the codification of the Fundamental Principles of Olympism, Rules and Bye-Laws adopted by the International Olympic Committee (IOC). It governs the organisation, action and operation of the Olympic Movement and sets forth the conditions for the celebration of the Olympic Games. In essence, the Olympic Charter serves three
    main purposes:
    a) The Olympic Charter, as a basic instrument of a constitutional nature, sets forth and recalls the Fundamental Principles and essential values of Olympism.
    b) The Olympic Charter also serves as statutes for the International Olympic Committee.
    c) In addition, the Olympic Charter defines the main reciprocal rights and obligations of the three main constituents of the Olympic Movement, namely the International Olympic Committee, the International Federations and the National Olympic Committees, as well as the Organising Committees for the Olympic Games, all of which are required to comply with the Olympic Charter.
    Top 10 Disgraced Olympic Athletes

While the 2012 London Olympics continues here is another Olympics list.  I have compiled a list of the top 10 disgraced athletes.  These are athletes that were either disqualified or stripped of their medals.  This list is current to the posting date and includes a major scandal from London 2012.

    #10 Cian O’Conner – 2004 Olympics

Irish show jumper Cian O’Conner, riding his horse “Waterford Crystal” became a national hero, as the only Irish medalist that year.  However, it emerged that “Waterford Crystal” was tested positive for a prohibited substance and O’Conner was stripped of his gold medal as well as receiving a three month ban from competition.  The Irish Show Jumping team was also disqualified.

    #9 Paavo Nurmi – 1932 Olympics

Finnish runner Paavo Nurmi won a total of nine gold and three silver in the twelve events in which he competed at the Olympic Games from 1920-1928.  In 1932 Nurmi was unable to compete at the Olympics as he was controversially branded a professional.  The main investigators of the ban were Swedish officials, this was seen by many Finnish as jealousy.

    #8 Jim Thorpe – 1912 Olympics

American athlete Jim Thorpe was stripped of his gold medals in decathlon and pentathlon after it was learned that he had played professional minor league baseball three years earlier.  In solidarity, the silver medalist Hugo Weislander (Sweden) refused to accept the medals offered.  The gold medals were returned to Thorpe’s family in 1983, 30 years after his death.

    #7 Andreea Raducan – 2000 Olympics

Romanian Andreea Raducan became the first gymnast to be stripped of a medal after testing positive for psuedoephedrine (a banned stimulant).  Raducan took nurofen, a common over-the-counter medicine to help treat fever.  The Romanian team doctor who gave her the medication was expelled from the games and suspended for four years.  The gold medal was advanced, but she was allowed to keep her gold from the team competition and a silver for vault.

    #6 Ara Abrahamian – 2008 Olympics

Swedish wrestler Ara Abrahamian placed his bronze medal on the floor immediately after it was placed around his neck in protest for his loss in the semifinals.  He was subsequently disqualified by the International Olympic Committee.

    #5 Dong Fangxiao – 2000 Olympics

The Chinese gymanistic team were stripped of their bronze medal when investigations found that Chinese gymnast Dong Fangxiao was only 14 (to be eligible the gymnastic athletes must turn 16 during the Olympic year).  The US woman’s team, then moved up to third top receive the bronze medal.

    #4 Angel Matos – 2008 Olympics

Three time Olympian, Cuban taekwondo athlete Angel Matos was competing in the bronze medal match when Swedish referee Chakir Chelbat gave a time warning.  When Matos did not return to the center, the ref ruled he had taken too long and disqualified him.  Matos briefly argued with the ref, then kicked him in the face, pushed a judge and spat on the floor, before being escourted out by security.  He was then banned for life by the World Taekwondo Federation.

    #3 Marion Jones – 2000 Olympics

United States sprinter Marion Jones won 5 medals in track and field.  In 2007 after a lengthy investigation, Jones admitted in court to have taken performance enhancing drugs (PED’s).  She and her relay team mates were stripped of their medals.  Other individual medalists were advanced, but not all.

    #2 Women’s doubles badminton teams – 2012 Olympics

Four badminton women’s doubles were disqualified.  The teams were from China, Indonesia and  two teams from South Korea.  The players went before a disciplinary hearing, a day after spectators at the arena booed their performance after it was clear that these teams were deliberately trying to loose.  The teams were doing this in order to obtain an easier matchup in the knockout round.

    #1 Boris Onischenko – 1976 Olympics

Soviet pentathlete, Boris Onischenko, was found to have used an épée (dueling sword) which had a modified pommel,  in the fencing portion of the pentathlon event.  When activated this moderfication would cause the electronic scoring system to register a hit no matter if the épée had connected or not.  As a result, he and the entire male Soviet pentathlon team were disqualified.  The British team who exposed Onischenko went on to win the gold medal.

More than 100 athletes have been kept out of the London Olympics because of doping suspensions. In the six months to mid-June, at least 107 athletes drew doping bans, ruling them out of the games. Fahey acknowledged that perhaps not all would have qualified to compete.

July 25th, 2012 - Nine athletes banned for doping offenses
A total of nine athletes, including Olympic bronze medalist Nataliya Tobias, have tested positive for "sophisticated doping" offenses, the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) has confirmed.
Six of those athletes were caught using a new "biological passport" method, which builds up a profile of each individual over a prolonged period of time.
The remaining three, including Tobias who came third in the women's 1500 meters in Beijing four years ago, were suspended after further analysis of samples they gave at the World Championships in Daegu last year.
"Today's announcements underline the IAAF's continued and unwavering campaign against doping in athletics," IAAF President Lamine Diack said in a statement on their official website.
"They demonstrate the IAAF's commitment to use advanced methods to detect doping and to enforce increased sanctions when justified.
"We will not stint in our resolve to do everything in our power to eradicate cheating."

London 2012 Olympics: Albanian weightlifter banned for failing drugs test

Albanian athlete Hysen Pulaku, 19, who was scheduled to compete in the men's 77kg weightlifting contest, has tested positive for an anabolic steroid. The decision was not contested by Pulaku, who tested positive on 23 July for Stanozolol and is the first athlete to be thrown out London 2012

Kicked out for a racist tweet: Greek triple jumper is banned from the Games after her African 'joke'

A Greek triple jumper has been expelled from the Olympics after she posted a racist joke on Twitter. Voula Papachristou was kicked out of her national team for mocking African migrants and expressing support for a far-Right political party.
Her offending message – which was referring to reports of mosquitoes carrying the West Nile virus in her home country – read: ‘With so many Africans in Greece, at least the West Nile mosquitoes will eat home made food!’

Two athletes miss Games after failed drugs tests

Greek high jumper Dimitrios Chondrokoukis has pulled out of London 2012 after testing positive for the banned substance stanozolol.
The 2012 world indoor champion was one of Greece's best hopes of a medal.
Chondrokoukis, 24, jumped a personal best of 2.33 metres when he took gold in Istanbul in March, beating Britain's Robbie Grabarz, who finished sixth.
Hungarian discus thrower Zoltan Kovago will also miss the Games after being handed a two-year doping ban.

London 2012: Selsouli to miss Games after failed drugs test

Moroccan 1500m runner Mariem Alaoui Selsouli has failed a drugs test and will miss the London Olympics.
Selsouli, who won silver at this year's World Indoor Championships, tested positive for a banned diuretic in a sample taken in Paris on 6 July.

Olympics 400m: Colombian Diego Palomeque fails drugs test

Colombian 400m runner Diego Palomeque has been formally excluded from the Olympics after a failed drugs test.
Palomeque, 18, did not take part in the men's heats after a urine sample tested positive for testosterone.

Olympic cycling: Russia's Victoria Baranova fails drugs test

Russian track cyclist Victoria Baranova has been expelled from the London Olympics after testing positive for the male hormone testosterone.
The 22-year-old was due to compete in Friday's women's keirin competition but was sent home earlier this week.
Baranova failed an International Olympic Committee (IOC) pre-Games drugs test in Belarus on 24 July. It is frustrating. Our sport has really been dragged through the mud BBC pundit Mark Cavendish. "She has admitted to taking a banned substance," the International Cycling Union (UCI) confirmed.

That Johnson bloke doesn't even get a mention. If athletes are banned, why not sponsors. They bring the games into disrepute as well

    Paralympics & UPS

    From trucker-net.com

    27th August

I see United Parcel Service is still in charge of Logistics for the 2012 Paralympics
I hope that they have informed PAUL SELLARS Traffic Manager at their Shaw Cross Depot in West Yorkshire that these extraordinary people are Disabled and must be applauded not castigated.

This might be of use to you

    Dear Sir,

    Thank you for your email.

    UPS Retribution

I have been asked to remove the photo's of the injured driver, he is worried about retribution. Unfortunately for him, UPS have already seen the photos.

They have already seen everything else on here and chosen not to comment, just like Dave agains blog and website, they can't close it down, (as per their threats to Dave), why?

It's all true, just like my blog. Yes there is some hearsay, but I can only take the driver's word for that, and it's likely to be more honest than that of a UPS Manager.

Some drivers were worried about retribution if they completed my bullying survey. What does that tell you about UPS Managers.

& a contribution, as if by magic by Dave

    1st of August 2012

On the 9th of December 2009 UPS (United Parcel Service) threatened me through their Solicitors to shut my web site down.
    http://www.trucker-net.com/

Now here we are 1st of August 2012 still up and running, UPS is the official logistics manager for the Olympics.
And at least one of their Managers is still bullying, intimidating, disciplining and sacking UPS employees.

    Olympic Security

Right let me see if I've got this right.

G4S can't supply enough security staff for the Olympics.
G4S are a profit making Company.
We are culling the British Army.
We have known that we are culling the British Army for quite some time.

    Why didn't we.......

Transfer the culled soldiers into a special Olympic Batallion and we'd have had a ready made, fully trained security force ready in time for the Olympics. No excess profits to be shelled out, no additional executives to line their pockets.

I wonder which MP's received a backhander for this waste of tax-payers money?

Aren't we already using some soldiers to man the rockets on top of the block of flats or have G4S borrowed them and hired them back to us at a huge profit?

& on the Olympics, why do we need the Olympics before we can improve the Stratford area of London. Why didn't its residents deserve better earlier, & why is it so much over budget.
