Trying to raise the dead

Genuine sign from the Morgue at Huddersfield Royal Infirmary

I kid you not

The SatNav genuinely tried to send me up here

Merry Christmas from Garmin

Twin Towers

Huddersfield style

With typical January Yorkshire weather

Can you tell what they are?

There has to be a UPS, twin towers, bomb plot, Al Qaeda, terrorist link somewhere to be had......but I can't think of one.

See what I did there?

Dave.......where are you?

Have they got you?
Doubt they've been able to shut you down.

Scott, if you want to make me an offer......

Bentley v Davis

News from those denizens of integrity PM daily, the mouthpiece of the CIPD.

Has Phil Bentley done anything dishonest?
Is it just the fact Gas prices have rocketed?

I don't remember PM Daily or CIPD commenting on the level of remuneration that Scott Davis received and UPS are stealing from their customers.

Multimillion payoff for departing British Gas boss sparks anger

But it's politicians, not unions, protesting at the golden goodbye
British Gas boss Phil Bentley is set to leave the company with more than £10 million in shares, bonuses and pensions, according to reports.

The 53-year-old, who has been managing director of British Gas since 2007, and who took home a salary of £681,000, is said to be stepping down due to a disagreement with chief executive Sam Laidlaw about the future of the company.

Bentley’s financial interests include almost two million Centrica shares worth at least £6.5m, and a £3.6m pension pot. He is also expected to receive a year’s salary.

Surprisingly, British Gas’ biggest union doesn’t begrudge Bentley’s pay, and they have gone out of their way to praise his relationship with workers during his tenure.

Commenting on the managing director’s term at the head of the organisation, the GMB said “things are much better under the Phil Bentley regime than in years gone by”.

The union also raised concerns about the timing of the exit. Gary Smith, national secretary for energy and utilities at the GMB union, said: “I have spoken to a lot of people and there is a concern about the way Centrica is handling this, and that it is damaging morale in the middle of winter, which is the busiest time for the engineers.”

However, Labour’s energy spokesman, Tom Greatrex MP, reacted angrily to the terms of Bentley’s departure.

“British Gas customers, who have seen their bills soar on Phil Bentley’s watch, will be astonished at the level of his pay-off,” he said. “It will strike many as an obscene level of reward.”

A former Diageo and BP executive, Bentley joined British Gas’ parent company Centrica in 2000, as a finance director.

He presided over the firm during a turbulent time, overseeing huge energy price hikes for customers, while facing increasing pressure from the government and campaigners.

Equality

What happened to equality?

We can't have Women bishops but we can have gay bishops.

From The Independant
The Church of England has now agreed that gay clergy in civil partnerships can become Bishops so long as they are celibate. In order to encourage gay clergy to abide by this ruling and not ‘get it on’ with their partners, the Church of England has provided this helpful list of what a gay Bishop can and cannot do.
• Gay Bishops and their partners are allowed to hold hands on the sofa when watching Downton Abbey but snuggling on the sofa is forbidden.
• When greeting their partner, gay Bishops may only kiss them once on the cheek. To kiss them twice on the cheek is too European and therefore too gay
• Holding hands across the table in restaurants is forbidden. Footsie under the table is permitted.
• Thick cotton flannel pyjamas must be worn in bed at all times during winter. In summer, only the top half can be removed and they must then face away from each other in bed.
• When sharing a milkshake or a Pepsi, gay Bishops and their partners must use two straws.
• The phrases “I love you”, “you are my one and only”, “you complete me” and “you look nice today, have you done something to your hair?” are all banned.
• Gay Bishops and their partners must immediately dispose of all Erasure and Pet Shop Boys CDs and replace them with Katherine Jenkins and Michael Buble.
• When tempted to make love to each other, it is advised that both parties close their eyes and think of God weeping at their lack of self control.
• Gay Bishops and their partners are banned from eating pork sausages as they may encourage sniggering at the breakfast table, but are permitted to eat Quorn and Linda McCartney sausages.
• Gay Bishops and their partners are now banned from watching Pillow Talk staring Doris Day and Rock Hudson for obvious reasons.
• Gay Bishops are allowed to talk to actresses, so long as the actresses are not left wing liberal lesbians who may encourage them to disregard the above rules.

Austerity UK Style

Why does Downing Street, which is a closed street need a Christmas tree like this?

Why, with shades of a Yes Minister sketch does the UK need the best plane.

Why do we need the American planes that Harrods would sell?

Surely we have the resources here and put the money back into the UK economy

Mail Online "At an eye-watering £100million each, this cutting edge fighter jet has been dubbed 'the best warplane money can buy'. And after seeing it in action for the first time yesterday, defence secretary Philip Hammond declared the cost of Britain's first superfighter 'money well spent'. Mr Hammond flew out to Fort Worth, Texas, to receive Britain's first ever F-35 Joint Strike Fighter in an official handover ceremony."

What good did the best missiles do for Argentina?

I suppose it does say the Office of Fair Trading, not unfair trading. So what do they actually do then?

Anniversary Time

Quick update from Dave

The UPS Parallel Universe

Now that is what I call a response!!
It would appear that some senior UPS personnel
do actually know how to use a computer.
In response to all the email requests to be removed
From “MY” list:
The person who supplied the list is actually on it.
Therefore it is not my list it is his!
Whilst you all think that the problems I
And many others orchestrate are nothing to do
With you!
I ask you to consider how your salaries are generated?
The answer is in the company name.

United  “PARCEL” Service

Hundreds of Drivers and related staff collect and deliver
“PARCELS”
Many of these Drivers are asked neigh told to break the law
 to deliver these parcels
The ones who refuse to break the law
are disciplined harassed and bullied
By their supervisors and managers.
When these illegal actions are reported
To the enforcers of the law
VOSA
Nothing is done about it.
I sincerely hope that it is not one of you that
Is killed the next time a tired UPS driver
Looses concentration and control of his vehicle
It is time you all came out of that fictitious parallel
Universe you all live in and joined us in the real world
These men and women are actually
Generating the cash which pays your salary,
All be it illegally at times.

No doubt there are many UPS personnel out there thinking that Dave & I are just bitter & twisted ex-employees. Most of these employees will be thinking oh no, not them again. We have a real message about Health & Safety, physical & mental.

I can understand some employees thinking that it is nothing to do with them. They will only find out the true scale of UPS when something goes "wrong", like being honest.

You will see a theme through our posts, as we contact people and agencies.
First person you contact will initially ignore you. It's going to be a problem, so I don't want to deal with it. You will be shunted around a few departments, end up back where you started, to be told we can't do anything..............if you get an answer at all.

I've had 18,000 views from 67 countries, so a bit of interest
