Silence in court

Complete fantasy but here's a bit of a scenario that is likely to happen fairly soon.

Will UPS be able to keep it up in court?

You may pick a manager at random, we'll  call him Walter Mitty.

Not entirely sure who holds the Spanish Inquisition in court but we'll call him Matthew.

Matthew - Mr Mitty, you submitted a statement to Mr Whitehead's grievance in which you denied that Mr. Whitehead had raised any integrity issues.

Mitty-that is correct

Matthew- why did you do that when there was e-mail evidence to prove Mr Whitehead right?

Mitty-what!

Matthew-sorry, dîdñt you understand the question?

Mitty- yes, I mean, no, she said that there was a collective denial. She never said that here was anything to prove he'd got any evidence.

Matthew-she?

Mitty-yes, HR,

Repeat with other Managers

Call HR

Matthew-you collated a series of statements in which the was an orchestrated denial that Mr Whitehead had raised any integrity issues.

HR-yes those were the instructions that I received. Chris Marchant chaired the grievance meeting.

Call Chris Marchant.

Matthew-you chaired the grievance meeting for Mr Whitehead

CM that's correct

Matthew-why did you accept all the notes and appendices when the was clear evidence to show that Mr whitehead was correct?

CM - UPS are always right, it was 7 Managers v. 1 supervisor.

Mathew- what about the up to date information that Mr Whitehead gave you on centreboards?

CM you expect us to believe that this evidence was genuine?

Matthew-did you prove it wasn't genuine? How can do deny this was true. They were all UPS reports that were used.

CM Errrrrrrrrrrr

Matthew-why was there no right of appeal given to Mr Whitehead, when your decision was obviously a sham? Or was it because it was a sham?

CM errrrrrrrrrrrr, I only held the meeting, HR made all the decisions and completed the paperwork.

Matthew-so you were just a puppet for HR?

CM Errrrrrrrrr.

Matthew - how can you ignore this as security manager?

CM this is what I was told to do. I am a mere functionary. Cue Yes minister sketch
