It's entirely legal for an MP to lie to Parliament. Doesn't...

PETITION UPDATE
Happy New Year!
6 Jan 2015 — You and I and everyone else who signed the petition and tweeted #MakeLyingHistory managed to start a debate about raising the standards in public life. Well bloody done you!
What we are doing is terribly unfashionable. Raising a debate about truth in politics and politicians keeping their promises - must be having a laugh? Changing Westminster? About as likely as England winning the next World Cup - right?
I'm so bored with this culture of lying without lying, so pissed off that Westminster thinks it operates beyond the law & I'm simply not satisfied when I'm told in that age old English way, "that's just how it is."
Do you feel like that too?
A radical debate about trust in politicians is starting. You are starting it. We are making it impossible to ignore.

This needs to happen NOW before even more people lose trust in our political system.
We urgently need a new culture of open and honest debate, and we need to restore trust in the people we elect to represent us in order to re-invigorate our democracy.
Enough is enough.
Let's push hard now it's new year. I would love to see you at Downing Street at 11:30AM this Wednesday (7th Jan 2015) - yes tomorrow - when we deliver our petition to No 10.
Be great to hear from you all. Come along. It will be a laugh.
Let's try and hit 150K by Wednesday, tweet the petition, email your family and friends, facebook it and use the hashtag #MakeLyingHistory
Thanks for helping make this debate possible.

There are some interesting comments as well.....
I don't know anyone who believes our supposed 'democratic' system is in fact democratic, honest, fair and just anymore. There is no longer any difference between these career politicians of ANY persuasion. No longer ANY politician with a belief and a true conviction over their policies. No longer even a pretend lip-service to honesty. They are ALL in it for what they, and their buddies and/or sponsors, can get out of it. We are being manipulated and ruled by a system of cronyism, elitism and downright criminal types. Media is manipulated by those with interests in financial matters. GREED, PROFIT and CORRUPTION rules. We have Regulations and Acts foisted upon us that encourage us to quarrel with each other over trivial matters, so we are looking the wrong way when we should be looking at and demanding our so-called leaders actually 'lead' - and especially by example. Voters are just as bad as the politicians because they vote a certain way, 'because they always have voted that way' - whether it makes sense or not. By actually voting for the politicians we have today, we are voting to perpetuate the present corrupt system.
Susan Forde - Well said. When the House of Commons signed up to giving £12B away of our money against the wishes of the majority of UK voters and much of it to corrupt overseas regimes (and I don't have a problem with giving "real" aid to people who really need it) less than 25% of the MPs we pay were present - so let's get rid of the other 75%. The US Congress has 435 "MPs" for 300M people - why do we pay for 650 for 60M people?
As "democracy" is basically a way for socio-paths to get power of others I doubt lying even enters their heads as a bad thing.
ME TOO… albeit a mere 148 miles away… but on a pension travel has become limited. But I do what I can locally because of the biggest, catch-all lie of the lot… "We're all in this together"… combined with "Cut backs will not effect front line emergency services" having led to a disastrous reduction in police, firefighters, ambulance drivers, paramedics, nurses, doctors, midwives, etc., etc., etc., all denied by the Cons with that universal truth… statistics.
Happy New Year!
