Ian Rankin's Rebus
Peter James' Roy Grace
Jo Nesbo's Harry Hole
Jeffrey Deaver's Lincoln Rhyme
to name a few
Having recently moved we found a book in the cellar. It was Black Ice by Michael Connelly. It features LAPD' Harry Bosch. Fortunately it was only the second book in the series. Having a vast of time on my hands due to my immobility, I have been able to start and work my way through the other books in order. So far I'm up to my 10th Bosch novel, but I'm going to go back and catch up on another character who features in an earlier book. They are definitely on a par with Rankin, James and Nesbo, excellent stories that keep you engrossed
There is a website here and a few reviews for you

“Connelly’s Bosch could partner with John Sanford’s Lucas Davenport. As fictional heroes, these ‘90’s tough guys are a joy.”
