All,
It has come to light that some employees have been issued ID badges after a form has been received stating the correct level of aviation security training has been completed, it then transpires that no training has been received by these individuals.
I do not need to remind you of the seriousness of this and implications to our business.
No ID request forms are to completed for anyone who has not had the required aviation security training, proof of this must be gained by the approver before sending in the form.
This is a serious integrity issue and will be dealt with accordingly for any misuse of the ordering system.

Mike…some situations can be investigated anonymously.  People often times give anonymous tips that are investigated.  However, sometimes more information is needed to investigate some cases properly.  We can move your case to the investigation stage and put your name as the respondent.  That way, those investigating the case can talk with you directly and you can provide to them all of the information you have provided to me as well as any other related details.  Someone should be contacting you. Focus on Compliance is a recurrent training program designed to reinforce knowledge of the UPS Code of Business Conduct and to support the requirement of all UPSers to adhere to our codes of conduct.
The Focus on Compliance 2011 training is an interactive, web-based application that is accessible from any computer on the UPS network.
Audience: The 2011 training should be completed by all full-time management employees and full-time specialists, in all UPS regions and business units by 31st August.
  • Employees will need their TMS user name and password (same password used to complete the QPR process) to complete the training.

This training is mandatory and we must ensure that the District is 100% compliant by the deadline date.  So far, the district is 96.14 % compliant and we now have 1 day to meet our target of 100%.
Focus on Compliance is part of UPS’s commitment to conduct business in compliance with applicable laws and regulations and in accordance with the highest ethical standards.

Fact – Craig McIntosh, Division Manager, stated drivers choose to work through their breaks. Whilst it is true the statement was made, I have not spoken to any driver who chooses to work through his break. Of course the UPS answer to drivers being over-despatched, as per Scott Fowler, is stay out until 22.00.

Opinion - I would suggest that it is the level of work given to drivers that would make them work through their breaks.

Fact – I did not choose to work through my breaks

Fact – Dan Walton, fellow supervisor at Dewsbury, did not choose to work through his break.

Fact – Both Dan & I regularly spoke to Steve O’Donnell about being over-despatched.

Fact – Whether drivers choose to work through their breaks or not, UPS continue to allow this to happen. Why? In my opinion, productivity.

Fact – I reported working time issues 3 years ago. UPS has continued to ignore this information.

Fact – Steve O’Donnell stated that he was bullied by his Manager Rob Burrows.

Fact – Albert Graham, Union Convenor, stated that Rob Burrows was a verbal bully.

Fact – A driver told me that Scott Fowler, Centre Manager at Dewsbury, said there was a bullying culture in UPS. As the statement was made by Scott to the driver it is not hearsay.

Fact – I have drivers signatures, dated, that state they believe bullying occurs within UPS. Some wouldn’t answer fearing retribution.

Hearsay – 2 Centre Managers resigned due to bullying by UK & Ireland Operations Manager, Tony Colaizzo. I have no reason to doubt the word of the person who gave me this information. Roger Mays has failed to answer this question, and if necessary I could provide a statement from someone verifying the events.

Fact – Albert Graham has stated that the information supplied to him regarding sick & injured drivers is bullying.

Fact – Bullying was raised at a drivers meeting. I have a photograph of all the comments that Steve O’Donnell wrote on his whiteboard during the meeting. There were approximately a dozen drivers attending that meeting.

Background - Centreboards

Here's a list of Centres that put Centre Boards on road, for whatever reason.

What's a Centre Board? you ask.

Quick answer is a board that doesn't go out on road. It stays in the building to register work done in the Centre.

Here's a bit of detail, from the official handout. (Note integrity gets a mention, yet again)

All these Centres put a Centre Board on road. (Submitted at my grievance hearing). It affects the productivity figures

All these Centres felt the need to cheat and be dishonest.

GLOBAL TIME SYSTEM MANAGEMENT CERTIFICATION


Introduction

This document outlines some of the best practices with regards to DIADS downloading into the Global Time System (GTS).

The most important thing to remember is that the DIAD must accurately record the different duties that individual drivers under take each day. It is the driver’s responsibility to ensure that the following elements are entered correctly: Work Codes, Stops, Special Counts, Start and Finish Times.

The data is used to populate a number of productivity reports and is also downloaded into the payroll department to ensure the driver’s payments are made.

In order to ensure that reports and payments are accurate, it is down to the Centre Management Team to be certified in the GTS interface with the DIAD. Any amendments to Time Cards, must be justified and auditable.

With this in mind I refer you to one of our core UPS Policies

We also expect our people to be honest in their assessment of themselves, such as the time and commitment they give to their job performance, the fairness they seek in their dealings with others, or the objectivity they use in evaluating their own contributions.

The great majority of our people are of high moral character. However, when we do discover a dishonest person in our organization, we deal with that individual quickly and firmly. For our company to be known for its integrity, each one of us must meet high standards.

 Rules for Recording Deliveries

  • A DIAD must be the first option for recording deliveries and collections
  • In the event that a paper record is used to obtain a signature for a delivery or pick up, a time card must be entered into DCS and GTS.
  • The Centre Board should only be in the Centre for packages collected by the customer. The Centre Board should never be used on road.
  • MISLOADS that have to be delivered to end user must be delivered on a DIAD and declared as a driver on road. MISSORTS (different center) can be coded as Shuttle. (A Dewsbury Issue)
  • When we have departmental support during peak operational periods, all deliveries and collection resource must have a time card created regardless of the amount of volume or stops. (A Dewsbury Issue)
  • If a driver is taken sick on road and another driver is dispatched to support he must open a second DIAD (A Dewsbury Issue)
  • If volume is left in building or hold cage that should have been dispatched and is shuttled to another driver, a DIAD must be opened for this as additional cost is being incurred due to an error. Late feeds after 1 hour of scheduled wrap can be coded as Shuttle if volume is fed to another driver. (A Dewsbury Issue)
